In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Sacramento; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 amβ9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Sacramento is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Sacramento is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

My friends and I stumbled across this gem. The food was so good. We all had combo plates. The Mongolian beef and Sesame chicken were so good. The meat was so soft and tasty. The portions were big. The employees were so nice. Nathan was so attentive and helpful. We appreciate him taking the time to make us some good hot sauce!

First visit for lunch. Arrived right as they opened at 11:00 am. It was so cold in the restaurant I had to go back to the car and get my sweater. I asked for the temp to be adjusted but couldn't do much as it was an open kitchen. So they are concerned about keeping the kitchen cool but not customers comfort. That aside, the food is good with generous portions. Combined we had Orange Chicken with fried rice and "chow mein", Chow Fun with fried tofu and Egg Flower soup. My companions liked both the Chow Fun and the Soup. My Orange Chicken was very good but the Chow Mein had no flavor. It was just a large portion of large noodles with a few strips of cabbage in it. I added a little soy sauce but it didn't help. I would order all again except the Chow Mein again. Very good service. I do recommend this establishment.

went to Hidden Dumpling House Midtown with my friend last week, and honestly it was such a good experience. The staff were really nice and attentive the whole time, not in an annoying way, just super warm and welcoming. We ordered a few things to share, and everything came out hot and fresh. The dumplings were definitely the highlight super juicy with a really rich broth inside, and the wrapper was soft but still had a nice bite to it. We also got noodles, and they were surprisingly good, chewy, well-seasoned, and had that slightly oily, garlicky flavor that just makes you keep eating even when youβre already full. Portions were pretty big too, so it felt worth the price. Overall it just had that comforting, casual vibe where you can sit, eat, and chat for a long time. Iβd definitely go back again.

Finally tried Hidden Dumpling House after hearing so many good things, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The beef fried rice came out in a huge portion and was packed with flavor. Plenty of leftovers which is a win for us. The kung pao chicken had just the right level of spice, and I appreciated how generous they were with the vegetables and portion size overall. We also ordered the xiao long bao, which were a standout. The dumplings were juicy and satisfying, but what really pulled it all together was the ginger dipping sauce, so good. Overall, great portions, solid flavors, and definitely a spot Iβd come back to.

The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. They didn't skimp on ingredients. Our fried rice had plenty of shrimp and chicken and was a meal within itself. The dumplings were so good (but I love XLB with malted vinegar, and theirs did not come with that, but that is a minor comment). The eggplant was so scrumptious, some of the absolute best. One thing about their food is it wasn't greasy at all. Service was great, ambience is very nice. The only "problem" is the place is super small, so seating will be cut in half if it's not nice enough to sit outside. We came at an off-peak time and it was crowded, so I would imagine long waits if you show up at peak times. Definitely coming back though!
